Hey guys, another short column this week. We’re in West Virginia, set up at the 49th Annual Mountain Heritage Arts & Crafts Festival. It’s a three-day event, so if you’re in or around Kearneysville, West Virginia, today or tomorrow, come look us up! Nancy is selling her art and prints in Building One. If you can’t make it but would like to see her art, you can view her Glimpses Of Melody on Etsy
Between selling art, I’m reading another Wimpy Kid book. I first read Diary of a Wimpy Kid at a West Virginia Airbnb, so when I was selecting reading material to bring with me, it felt like a natural choice.
bought the above book, The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary: How Greg Heffley Went Hollywood, at the Street of Shops on Lewisburg, PA, for the nice price of $2.49. What got me excited about this purchase is that the book contains a comprehensive behind-the-scenes look at the making of the movie. And when I say “comprehensive,” I’m not exaggerating in the slightest. Wow, this thing is thorough!

Seen in the gallery above are: pages from Kinney’s original sketchpad that he turned into his first book; storyboards created by the director of the film compared to the actual shots from the movie; architectural renderings for set designs and props; an example of an actor’s call sheet, and much, much more. And it’s all told in the same simple, entertaining way you’d expect if you’ve read his other books. If you’re interested in either the franchise or just filmmaking, this book is a must-have.
Well, that’s it for this week. Until next time, Always Be Creating!
